Since I am very excited about all things data management, data analysis, reproducible research, etc. I was excited to see that Carly Strasser already organized a list of talks and workshops around those areas, see here.
In addition, I’m looking forward to a number of talks, sessions, and workshops (in no particular order):
- Evaluating a general theory of macroecology using big data by Ethan White
- Sharing Makes Science Better is an Ignite session, should be great
- At the Hub: Lessons Learned by Early-career Ecologists in Grassroots Research Networks is a workshop organized by Eric Lind, looks promising
- The Ignite session Ecological Analysis Using Network Science and Graph Theory looks quite interesting
- Conducting Open Science Using R and DataONE: A Hands-on Primer will be an important primer for those that want to learn more about how to do open science
- Open Science and Ecology is an organized session with talks on open science, open data, and open source software
ESA is unfortunate this year of not having wifi – so hearing from folks (via Twitter, etc.) in all talks at once will be limited to those with smart phones, etc.
